How Do You Dispose of Lancets?

Sharps Disposal Containers

According the American Diabetes Association, an easy way to get rid of used lancets or needles is to put them in a heavy-duty plastic or metal container with a tight-fitting lid (such as an empty laundry detergent bottle). You can use a detergent bottle, coffee can. Any container that a syringe needle or lancet cannot puncture. When the bottle is 3/4 full, tape around the top and then dispose of them according to your city disposal laws.

You can use a sharps disposal container, which is any container that is intended to be used for sharps waste disposal, is a FDA-regulated medical device. Manufacturers must obtain premarket clearance before marketing the device to the public.

Remember, do not cap your syringes or lancets. Just inject your self with your syringe or lancet and then just dispose of them in the plastic container. Again, DO NOT RECAP your syringe or lancets.
