Keep a Log for your Blood Sugar Results

Keep a log of your blood sugar results. This is critical. It tells you if what you are eating or your blood sugar pill or insulin is working.

There’s even more to testing than just finding out a number. Keeping track of your results give you a clear picture of your overall blood glucose level and how activities in your life effect your levels.

This takes time to track and evaluate with your health care team but it is well worth it. It will help keep your diabetes under control and help you feel far better.

When you go to the doctor, you should always bring your blood sugar log so the doctor can see your overall picture.

You see, you can’t lie to the doctor and tell the doctor your blood sugars have been running normal and get away with it. Usually every 2-3 months the doctor will take an AIC blood test to see how your blood sugars were running the past 2-3 months.

If you tell the doctors your blood sugars were running in the low 100’s and your AIC is 8. that is a big difference. The normal is 7. 6 is better.
