Urine Ketone Testing

Urine tests are for ketones. Blood tests are for glucose levels.

Urine tests are not as accurate as blood tests for checking your glucose levels. Urine tests show what your glucose levels were in the past couple hours. Blood tests, on the even more hand, explain what your current blood glucose level is.

Anyway, you may want to try out for ketones in your urine. As ketones build higher in your blood, they “spill” across into your urine. Ketones are even more likely to build higher if your an insulin-dependent diabetic.

Ask your doctor or nurse to guidance you about when and if you need to test for ketones.
